NCE has an immediate opening for a Senior Level Geologist or Civil Engineer based in our Pt. Richmond and/or Sacramento, California office. We are a mid-sized but rapidly growing firm with offices in Pt. Richmond, Oakland, Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Reno (NV), and Anaheim, California.

This position offers a unique opportunity for a qualified and motivated professional to contribute to the continued growth of NCE’s environmental practice. The ideal candidate will support and potentially help lead efforts in site assessment, due diligence assistance, clean-ups, regulatory interaction & compliance and property re-purposing with cities, counties and the private sector. In addition, the role includes opportunities to support our civil engineering design team on public-sector Capital Improvement Projects (CIP).

NCE’s projects often involve collaboration with cities and counties on property re-use and revitalization, as well as innovative design solutions for public infrastructure such as roads, trails, and site development. Responsibilities:

We are seeking an energetic and motivated senior level individual with experience to be a part of an organization that is growing. The responsibilities will generally include managing and coordinating clients and projects of varying size and complexity and more specifically the following:

  • Manage projects to meet (if not exceed) client requirements and maintain ongoing positive relationships with clients
  • Desire and ability to learn to identify and pursue new business opportunities
  • Assist in developing project scope, writing proposals, participating in project interviews, and manage the allocation of resources to complete assigned projects
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform technical tasks, field tasks, studies, and analysis with ongoing review, coaching, and interaction with project team management
  • Working with integrated and multi-disciplinary teams supporting the preparation of plans, specifications, engineers estimates (PS&E)
  • Review field reports prepared by staff specialists; provide guidance to office and field personnel
  • Organize field work and assign tasks to staff specialists; assemble, review, and evaluate complex data; integrate data evaluations prepared by staff specialists into project
  • Contacts vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements

Qualifications (Must Have):

  • B.S. Civil Engineering or Geology
  • Possession of a California Professional Engineer (P.E.) or California Professional Geologist (PG) license
  • 7–20 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with proposal writing and job development
  • Experience with the environmental regulatory agencies and ideally, federal/state funded projects and documentation
  • Proficiency in latest versions of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with various state agencies and regulations including the California Regional Water Quality Control Boards and Department of Toxic Substance Control.
  • Experience with storm water regulations, low impact development and storm water runoff reduction design
  • Knowledge in site investigation techniques and strategies
  • Knowledge of Phase I and Phase II Site Assessment requirements including ASTM 1527-21 and All Appropriate Inquiries.
  • Demonstrated project experience with value engineering and cost-effective design alternatives

Salary range: $ 115,000 - $150,000 DOE and Location
