Impact & contribution:

We are looking for the very best Senior Engineering Manager to join our Wealth & Private leadership team from CBA India. In this role, you will be accountable to lead a team of 40+ colleagues and manage agile software delivery teams and partnering with the Product partners to drive technology delivery. The leader will support to deliver an ambitious vision against our customer objectives: to create enduring technology differentiation with unmatched digital experiences built on decoupled, resilient, and reliable technology foundations. The 3 key objectives for our customers are:

Enhance customer value through unlocking dependable digital experiences.

Increase delivery velocity & autonomy by unwinding complex legacy architecture.

Enable always available channels, powered by simpler and more resilient technology

Reporting Line:

You will be reporting to the Executive Manager and Technology Domain Lead of Wealth & Private. This role will have about 4-6 direct reports who are Engineering Managers who will manage T-shaped full stack engineers and are responsible for their goal setting, performance reviews, career development and associate engagement.

Roles & Responsibilities:

As a Senior Engineering Manager of W&P Technology from CBA India, you’ll be an integral member of our team. You will leading a strong pool of talent and is responsible for future growth and capability building for the organization. You will guide those around you to invest in their own engineering craft and mentor them to build world class applications. You will influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams and champion the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Have extensive leadership experience in leading high performing engineering teams.

Build, lead and inspire an engaged team of engineers.

Drives cultural and process changes supporting modern delivery practices.

Have real world experience of building and leading teams who operate in the DevSec Ops model.

Encourages risk-taking and constructively challenges the status quo while influencing stakeholders and building diverse and inclusive teams.

Provide effective coaching to engineers and establish mechanisms for peer-to-peer learning and mentoring.

Role model a culture of engineering empowerment, autonomy, psychological safety and constructive challenge.

Understand unique skill sets of team members, providing personalised feedback and guidance.

Communicate to senior management and key stakeholders to ensure clear path to execution.

Communicate Engineering Practice standards and consistent ways of working across the domain and CBA that align to industry standards.

Allocate time for code review, refactoring and tech debt elimination over feature delivery

Essential Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

20+ Years of industry experience.

Solid experience working with large scale distributed systems and able to operate in a multi-platform environment.

Expertise with automation and designing software architecture in the banking domain.

Developing 3-tier application both on-premises and on cloud covering:Frontend: React and Redux (preferred) or Angular.Backend: .Net Core (preferred), C#.Database: SQL and NoSQL experience.

Microservices design and implementation of highly scalable APIs.

Scripting/programming languages (JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Python).

CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Octopus).

Cloud - AWS along with certification

Solution and System Design.

Application Security and Observability.

Code quality control through peer programming, code review, and automated pipeline management.

Experience working on green field project is highly regarded.

Qualifications:

A degree in Computer Science or a related field.
