Contract to Hire

Location: The Woodlands, TX or Plainfield, IL

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Applications Administrator to lead the administration, optimization, integration, and support of engineering and document management applications within an Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of business-critical platforms that support engineering, supply chain, and construction teams.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring deep expertise in engineering document management systems, application integrations, data management, and enterprise application support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, maintain, and optimize engineering document management and enterprise information management platforms.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for business-critical engineering applications, troubleshoot complex issues, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams for resolution.
  • Manage application security, user access, permissions, and audit controls in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and execute application upgrades, patches, and enhancements, including testing and deployment activities.
  • Monitor application performance, availability, and integrations to ensure optimal system reliability.
  • Design, develop, and support integrations between engineering applications, ERP systems, and third-party platforms.
  • Perform root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventive measures.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and training materials.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, database, and project teams on application architecture, security, and operational initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting applications within Architecture, Engineering, or Construction (AEC) organizations.
  • 5+ years of hands-on administration experience with engineering document management or enterprise content management platforms.
  • Demonstrated expertise with at least one of the following: FusionLive, Proarc, Aconex, Documentum, Alfresco, OpenText, or M-Files.
  • Strong experience with SQL and scripting such as PowerShell or Python.
  • Experience supporting both SaaS and on-premises applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux environments and application servers such as IIS, WebLogic, or Tomcat.
  • Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, or other enterprise database platforms.
  • Strong understanding of application security, user provisioning, and integration methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting engineering platforms such as Bentley Systems or Autodesk solutions.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, SAP Business Objects, Informatica, MuleSoft, Microsoft Power Apps, or .NET.
  • Experience delivering advanced data analysis using Python or similar tools.
  • Relevant application administration certifications.

Please note: Candidates without direct experience supporting engineering document management systems within an AEC environment will not be considered.
