About the Role 

As a Senior Structural Engineer at NOV, you will play a key role in the design, analysis, and fabrication of large welded steel structures used in offshore energy systems. Working from our Brøndby office, you’ll contribute your expertise to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of our subsea pipe systems—systems that operate in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

You will join our Structures & Ancillaries department, a team of passionate and highly skilled engineers and technical designers dedicated to delivering excellence. From concept to offshore installation, you’ll follow your designs through every stage, collaborating closely with cross-functional project teams and trusted subcontractors to bring innovative and reliable structural solutions to life. 

Our flexible offshore pipe-systems must function flawlessly in all conditions. And to keep the pipes in place, we use many types of structural components – from anchors to buoyancy modules. The overall job assignment is to undertake the design and fabrication of these components.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analyses of offshore steel structures according to offshore standards (e.g. DNV, NORSOK, ISO, API, etc.) and other customer specifications.
  • Prepare design reports and provide technical input to Structural Designers for detailed drawings.
  • Prepare technical specifications for steel structures and polymer components to subcontractors based on customer input and other engineering teams within NOV Flexibles.
  • Conduct fabrication follow-ups with international sub-suppliers, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Participate in and occasionally lead technical meetings with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Review and check design documentation prepared by colleagues.
  • Manage and respond to customer comments to ensure progress and quality in line with project plans.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams, including engineering, purchasing, project management, and documentation functions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department by sharing best practices and contributing to process optimization.
  • Occasional travel (5–10 days/year) to sub-suppliers abroad for fabrication follow-up and project coordination.

Qualifications & Skills 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,  
  • experience in the design and analysis of steel structures, preferably within the offshore industry.
  • Excellent communication skills in and English, both written and verbal.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with fabrication follow-up for large steel components.
  • Understanding of offshore installation practices and requirements.
  • Familiarity with project execution in an EPC or marine engineering environment.
  • Communication skills in Danish
