Job Description
Job Title: Senior Embedded Software Engineer\nLocation: Oxford \nSalary: £55,000 - £70,000 (Depending on Experience) \n\nJob Overview:\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join a multidisciplinary design and engineering team developing high-quality, safety-critical embedded systems. The successful candidate will take technical ownership of embedded software development across multiple concurrent projects, working closely with hardware, systems, and test engineers to deliver robust and compliant solutions.\n\n This role will suit a hands-on engineer with strong experience in C/C++, ARM microcontrollers (STM32), and communication protocols such as CANbus and RS-485. Experience within regulated industries—ideally aerospace or similarly safety-critical environments—and familiarity with DO-178C processes is highly desirable.\n\n This is a full-time, on-site role based in Oxford, offering the opportunity to influence software design and development across several innovative platforms.\n\nRequired Skills & Experience \nProven experience (5+ years) developing embedded software in C and C++.
\nStrong working knowledge of ARM Cortex-M (STM32) microcontrollers. \nExperience with CANbus and RS-485 communication protocols. \nKnowledge of Linux or embedded Linux environments for future system development.
\nExperience in regulated industries such as aerospace, automotive, or medical devices. \nExcellent debugging, optimisation, and problem-solving skills. \nStrong communication and documentation abilities.
\nDesirable Skills \nFamiliarity with RTOS environments \nExperience with graphical frameworks for embedded GUIs. \nExposure to functional safety or quality standards (e.g., ISO 26262). \nUse of version control (Git/SVN) and continuous integration tools.
\nScripting experience (e.g., Python, shell) for automation or testing. Note: All Candidates must be able to work in the UK without VISA Sponsorship
