Senior Embedded Linux Engineer\nLocation: Reading (Hybrid - typically 3 days onsite)\nSalary: £90,000\nEmployment Type: Full-time, permanent\nRight to Work: Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK required\nI’m currently working with a well-established technology business that develops secure, mission-critical IoT and embedded systems used in safety-focused environments. On their behalf, I’m looking to hire an experienced Senior Embedded Linux Engineer to play a key role in the design and development of robust, future-ready embedded software platforms.\nThis is a senior, hands-on technical role where your expertise will directly influence product architecture, security, and reliability, working as part of a collaborative and highly skilled engineering team.\nThe Role\nAs a Senior Embedded Linux Engineer, you will:\n * Design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux software for router and IoT devices\n * Write high-quality, testable code, and contribute to automated tests and code reviews\n * Debug and validate embedded systems, ensuring robust performance\n * Collaborate closely with hardware and cross-functional teams\n * Influence technical direction and stay current with emerging IoT/embedded trends\nAbout You\nYou are a skilled embedded developer who:\n * Has strong experience in C and embedded Linux development\n * Understands Linux networking, IP-based networking (routing, VLANs, VPNs), and multiple interfaces (Ethernet, cellular, Wi-Fi)\n * Is confident with git and modern collaborative workflows\n * Has experience with C++ or Python and provisioning large fleets of devices (desirable)\nWhat’s on Offer\nIn addition to a salary of circa £90,000, my client offers a strong benefits package and a working culture that genuinely values its engineers, including:\n * Hybrid working model\n * Pension scheme\n * 25 days annual leave\n * Healthcare benefits\n * Insurance package\n * On-site parking\nIf you’re a Senior Embedded Linux Engineer looking for a role where your work genuinely matters - contributing to secure, reliable technology used in real-world, safety-critical applications - I’d be very happy to discuss this opportunity with you.\nPlease note: Applicants must have the full right to work in the UK.
