Position Overview
As a Senior Electrical Estimator, you will play a critical role in the growth and success of Service Complete Electric by leading the estimating efforts for commercial electrical projects of various sizes and complexities. This position involves the thorough review of project plans, specifications, and proposals to deliver highly accurate, competitive, and clearly documented cost estimates. You will collaborate closely with project management, field operations, vendors, clients, and subcontractors throughout the preconstruction process to ensure alignment with project objectives and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating and Proposal Development
- Review and analyze project drawings, technical specifications, and bid documents to develop complete electrical take-offs and detailed cost estimates.
- Prepare scopes of work that clearly outline project inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions.
- Use estimating platforms such as Accubid, LiveCount, and Bluebeam for take-offs, markups, and data integration.
- Submit thorough, timely, and competitive bid proposals based on accurate scope and market conditions.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and walkthroughs as required.
Cost and Pricing Analysis
- Solicit and evaluate competitive vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Apply appropriate NECA labor units, factoring for job-specific conditions, productivity, and manpower.
- Reference historical project data to validate pricing and anticipate potential cost challenges.
- Maintain updated cost databases and unit price libraries for recurring bid items.
- Spot and communicating cost, scope, and schedule risks.
- Accountability to cross-check estimates.
- Stay on top of market conditions labor trends, supply chain issues, etc.
- Encourage value engineering ideas up front to help us stay competitive and protect margins.
Collaboration and Communication
- Coordinate closely with project managers, field supervisors, and engineering staff to develop strategies for bid execution and project handoff.
- Communicate scope breakdowns, bid clarifications, and assumptions with clarity to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in project turnover and planning meetings to ensure smooth transition from estimate to execution.
Process Improvement and Reporting
- Maintain detailed, organized estimate documentation for audit and reference purposes.
- Assist in the development and refinement of estimating standards, tools, and workflows.
- Track and analyze win/loss ratios and estimate-to-actual cost variances to identify improvement opportunities.
- Share lessons learned and collaborate on department-wide efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical estimating.
- Proficient with Accubid, LiveCount, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with healthcare, institutional, or large-scale commercial projects.
- Familiarity with NECA labor units and current NEC codes.
- Prior experience on Design-Build, GMP, or negotiated projects.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Occasional site visits may require walking through construction environments.
- Manual dexterity required for operating office equipment and handling documents.
