BNS is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The candidate will be based in South Carolina and surrounding states and must have the ability to travel as needed to our facility in Sumter, SC.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for design, engineering and validation of electrical equipment including but not limited to: Low, Medium and High Voltage Switchgear, Motor Controllers, Relay Panels, etc. This position plays a key role in supporting the Engineering department by ensuring we exceed the expectations of our customers and partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties reflect the employees’ current contributions and expectations in their role:
- Design, engineering and support for all the electrical equipment products that BNS Power provides to the market
- Provide Engineering input and support of current Production items including implementation of design changes, availability of required drawings, and documentation submittals supporting various projects
- Collaborate with customers regarding new proposals, providing design recommendations and technical support. Travel to potential customer sites as needed to support the business
- Support Production (Assembly, Wiring and QA) teams as needed with questions and problems building and testing equipment
- Design for obsolescence replacement and support long-term system sustainability.
- Support customer/partner meetings and provide on-site field service support as needed, including on-site troubleshooting, project support, or installation. Travel requirements will vary by project
- Project management, managing various projects, project dependencies, etc. using Microsoft Planner and Project tools. Tracking progress and milestones and interfacing with both customers, suppliers and sub-contractors on various projects
- Maintain high performance standards in product design and delivery
- Continuously improve processes and contribute to team innovation
- Understanding of ISO 9001 in a business setting for quality management and requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
This role requires proficiency in the following areas:
- Deep experience with low, medium and high voltage switchgear including design principles and associated hardware including: automatic voltage regulators, electronic governors, protection relays, auto-synchronizers for military, commercial marine and data center applications.
- Experience with various PLC hardware using ladder logic, function block and structured text-based programming
- Experience with various communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, CANbus both serial and Ethernet based
- Ability to read and design to various requirement specs including: MIL, ABS, ANSI, IEEE and UL standards and requirements
- Familiarity with equipment qualification to MIL and IEC standards including shock, vibration and EMI qualification
- Strong technical writing skills. Support proposal team with development of technical proposals for new contracts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Productivity Tools, AutoCAD and Solidworks experience a plus
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable but not required.
- 7+ years in a direct experience or related product and system design
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer or Mechatronic Engineering
SCHEDULE
- Monday to Friday, normal business hours
- 25% or less travel required
