Our client, a US Fortune 250 company and a global medical technology corporation serving customers in Clinical Labs, Health care research & Pharmaceutical industry, seeks an accomplished Senior Electrical Engineer
Position: Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: San Diego, CA 92121
Contract: 12-month contract with possible extension
Pay Rate: b/w $70/hr - $77/hr (depending on experience)

Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing and developing electrical components, circuitry, electronic packaging, and systems used in finished equipment. This role requires advanced knowledge of design trade-offs, electrical board design, and product development processes. The engineer will support both new and existing products, evaluate feasibility and risks, resolve system behavior issues, and act as a technical resource for less experienced colleagues. The position operates with minimal guidance and independently prioritizes work.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom circuit boards and electrical systems.
- Extend and refine system designs for existing products.
- Assess feasibility, risks, and design trade-offs for electrical topologies.
- Support product development coordination and cross-functional collaboration.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system behavior issues for existing products.
- Apply product development process knowledge to standard and non-standard engineering situations.
- Work with external vendors and contract manufacturers on board production, assembly, and manufacturing.
- Support power supply design and related system-level electrical engineering tasks.
- Utilize tools such as Cadence, Allegro, OrCAD, and Altium for PCB design.
- Contribute expertise related to regulatory standards (60601/61010).
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE).
- 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering.
- Experience with circuit board design.
- Knowledge of electrical board production, assembly, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in medical devices or other regulated industries (automotive or aerospace acceptable).
- Experience working with vendors and contract manufacturing partners.
- Understanding of system-level design (e.g., power supply design).
- Proficiency with PCB design tools: Cadence, Allegro, OrCAD, Altium.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards IEC 60601 / IEC 61010.
Experience
- Experience with Pyxis systems (not required but beneficial).
