Senior Electrical Designer | Ogden, UT


We are seeking experienced Senior Electrical Designers to support the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the U.S. Air Force’s Sentinel (formerly GBSD) program. This program plays a critical role in modernizing the nation’s ground-based strategic deterrent infrastructure.

This is an on-site position in Ogden, UT, where you’ll lead the design of complex electrical systems, provide technical expertise, and mentor less experienced team members. The role offers excellent benefits, paid overtime, relocation assistance for qualified candidates, and a 9x80 work schedule with every other Friday off.


Responsibilities

• Lead and develop electrical design deliverables, including 3D models, 2D drawings, material specifications, and installation details in compliance with applicable codes and standards

• Model electrical rooms, raceways, lighting systems, grounding, and lightning protection using SmartPlant 3D, AutoCAD, and SmartSketch

• Prepare bills of materials, procurement documentation, and electrical calculations (e.g., lighting layouts with AGI 32, ground grid layouts with ETAP)

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design interface issues and ensure accuracy and constructability

• Review and check design deliverables for quality, accuracy, and completeness

• Conduct constructability reviews and participate in job site visits

• Mentor and guide junior designers to maintain high technical standards


Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship (required for federal facility access)

• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

• Valid Real ID-compliant driver’s license or state ID

• Successful completion of background check and drug screening (includes testing for marijuana use)

• Associate degree or technical certification in electrical design or related field

• 10+ years of electrical design experience for complex facilities (e.g., nuclear, DoD, data centers, utility plants)

• Strong knowledge of NEC, NEMA, ANSI, and IEEE standards

• Proficiency with SmartPlant 3D, SmartSketch, and AutoCAD

• Experience with electronic cable management systems (e.g., SETROUTE)

• Knowledge of SpecsIntact and CSI Master Format specifications

• Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and Whole Building Design Guide (WBDG)

• Experience resolving multi-discipline design issues and supporting field construction teams


Pay

$120,000 – $145,000 per year (DOE)


Schedule

Full-time | 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off)
