Senior Electrical Designer

JOB SUMMARY:The Senior Electrical Designer will develop and prepare electrical drawings using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and BIM technologies.
JOB DUTIES:
- Develop and prepare detailed electrical engineering and construction installation drawings.
- Consult with lead engineers and review project shop drawings for design accuracy.
- Develop conceptual or detailed electrical designs in power distribution, lighting, low voltage systems instrumentation, and controls for a variety of industries.
- Develop control panel drawings consisting of PLC panel layouts and I/O schematics.
- Electrical design deliverables include electrical one lines, power and lighting plans, electrical site plans, area classification plans, & grounding plans.
- Develop Revit and AutoCAD 3D & 2D models.
- Apply thorough knowledge of the Electrical Code and other applicable building codes to design projects.
- Analyze mechanical and process designs by reviewing P&IDs & general arrangement drawings.
- Comply with Companys Quality Control and Project Management procedures.
- Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organizations goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a Vestal Corporation office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Must be able to move about the office to access office equipment and other office buildings within the Vestal office complex.
- This position frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Associates in Computer Aided Design or comparable experience is required.
- 2 years of experience providing design/model coordination.
- 5-10 years of experience is required.
- Proficient with Autodesk Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage.
- Proficient with AutoCAD software.
- Understanding of AEC industry and project workflows (schematic design, design development, construction documentation phases).
- Working knowledge of the Electrical Code and other Building Codes is .
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of the Electrical Construction Industry.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
- Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
