Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our clients in-house design team. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in building services engineering, with a particular focus on high-spec fit-out projects. This is a hands-on design role involving coordination, technical leadership, and client-facing responsibilities on fast-paced Commercial, Industrial, and Banking sector projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of electrical building services including LV distribution, lighting, fire alarms, security, and containment systems.
- Produce detailed design drawings, calculations, specifications, and equipment schedules in accordance with project requirements and relevant UK regulations.
- Coordinate electrical services with other disciplines (mechanical, architectural, structural) to ensure fully integrated solutions.
- Review and approve designs from external consultants or subcontractors, ensuring technical compliance and value engineering where appropriate.
- Attend site meetings, carry out site inspections, support installation teams, and oversee commissioning processes.
- Interface with clients ,project managers, and contractors to clarify design in tent and manage technical queries.
- Mentor junior design staff and support their development within the team.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with the client's quality assurance,
sustainability, and health & safety standards.
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a building services consultancy, designhouse, or
MEP contractor environment.
- Proven experience in delivering electrical designs on Commercial officefit-outs, Banking facilities, or Industrial developments.
- Strong working knowledge of UK electrical standards (BS 7671), CIBSE guidelines, and relevant building regulations.
- Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Dialux,Amtech, and preferably Revit.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer (CEng)status or working toward it.
- BIM Level 2 experience and understanding of collaborative design processes.
- Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (e.g. BREEAM, LEED).
- Experience working within a design& build environment.
