About the Role\n\n A Senior Digital Engineer at Love2shop, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining digital products that power our customer experiences across web and mobile. You'll work at the intersection of engineering excellence, customer centric design, and help us deliver reliable, intuitive, and compliant digital journeys for millions of users.\n You'll be part of a collaborative, cross functional engineering team, contributing to the full development lifecycle: from shaping technical solutions and writing high quality code, to ensuring our platforms meet the regulatory, data protection, and security standards expected of a leading payments and rewards provider. This is a hands on role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, mentoring others, and building products that genuinely make a difference.\n\n Key Responsibilities\n\nBuild and maintain robust, high-quality web and mobile applications using Java and React , applying SOLID design principles throughout.\nHelp shape the architecture and technical direction of digital products, with a focus on scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.\nContribute across the full software development lifecycle — from shaping and scoping features through to production delivery — within an agile team.\nWork closely with product managers, designers, and QA engineers to take features from concept to production.\nLead and participate in code reviews, championing engineering best practice and constructive feedback.\nMentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, knowledge-sharing team culture.\nWrite secure, compliant code that meets regulatory, data-protection, and payment-security standards (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR).\nDiagnose and resolve complex technical issues across the stack.\nSupport and improve CI/CD pipelines, continuous delivery, and test automation.\nDrive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tooling, and ways of working.\nKeep documentation accurate and up to date for systems, processes, and key technical decisions.\nProvide out-of-hours production support on a rota basis.\nEssential Skills and Experience\n\nHands-on experience building and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications using React .\nStrong backend development experience using Java and Spring, including working with large or mature codebases.\nExperience deploying and managing Java applications on Apache Tomcat and/or IBM WebSphere application servers.\nSolid understanding of secure coding principles and experience working with customer data, payment processing, or other regulated environments.\nDemonstrable experience with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.\nStrong understanding of web performance, accessibility (WCAG), and responsive design principles.\nSolid experience across the testing landscape, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using tools such as Jest, Detox, Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, JUnit, and Mockito — with a strong commitment to test-driven development.\nSolid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and modern deployment practices.\nFamiliarity with security best practices relevant to web and mobile applications (e.g.
