Job Summary
This Senior Designer/Application Engineer position is to join our POWER team at ENNOVI. The POWER team works to design and develop the high-voltage (HV) busbars and connectors for multiple customers. The Power team relies heavily on HV Busbar and connector designs in various systems for powertrain applications like busbars for electric motors, busbars and connectors for inverters/ DC/DC converters, OBC, and battery packs. Also works to collaborate with our ENNOVI CAE, CAD, Test & Validation teams to optimize vehicle solutions.
Main Responsibilities
Interact directly with customers to execute the design of “Build to Spec” (BTS) high-voltage power interconnect components such as connectors and busbar assemblies. These are used in inverters, electric motors, and battery packs
Design interconnects components and assemblies, including busbars, plastics, seals and stampings
Support the BTS products that you design from concept to production, working with stakeholders from manufacturing, reliability, test, supply chain, and production
Work closely with Product Manager, CAD/CAE team, Test & Validation, and Manufacturing Process personnel on BTS programs.
Create detailed and fully functional solid models that can be directly used for tooling.
Work with CAD team to generate GD&T drawings.
Work with the CAE team on required simulations. Must understand the principles of mechanical FEA and Joule heating simulations. Molding simulation experience is very helpful.
Lead cross-functional team to conduct critical design review sessions when needed.
Drive product compliance testing activities; Own and manage DVP&R and DoE
Participate in DFM/DFA review sessions.
Support the Manufacturing team with PPAP, product packaging design, and functional in-line testing; evaluate other alternative manufacturing process proposals as needed.
Qualifications
BS in Electro-mechanical or Mechanical Engineering is required. Electrical education, or BSEE, is highly beneficial.
Min 8+ years of relevant experience in the automotive power electronics/ HV connectors/ busbars
Proficient in Solidworks, CATIA V5, or NX software.
Solid understanding of FEA and CFD analysis.
Experience designing HV parts and systems
Hands-on prototyping and build experience
Experience in DFMEA, GD&T, Tolerance Stack-up analysis.
Experience in metal stamping, plastic molding, and dielectric materials selection is a plus.
Ability to work in a collaborative global team environment.
High attention to detail is strongly .
This role may require both domestic and international travel (10% max).
