Position: Senior Database Engineer (AWS + Security)
Type: Full-Time

LifeTree is actively seeking a skilled database engineer with strong cloud and security instincts — and who wants to work on systems that matter — we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain a secure, scalable relational database system (PostgreSQL or equivalent)

• Deploy infrastructure on AWS using best practices (RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.)

• Implement security controls: encryption, access management, audit logging

• Help define and enforce compliance practices (HIPAA-aligned — training provided if needed)

• Build automation for deployment, backups, monitoring, and alerts

• Collaborate with leadership on system planning and security documentation

• Project Ownership; this is an opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up

• Optional: contribute to API development or lightweight admin interfaces

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of experience as a Database Engineer, Backend Developer, or DevOps/Cloud Engineer

• Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)

• Hands-on experience with AWS services: RDS, EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudTrail

• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)

• Solid understanding of data encryption, access control, and secure system design

• Comfortable working independently and owning your technical decisions

• Bonus: Familiarity with HIPAA, SOC 2, or other regulated environments

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

• Knowledge of healthcare systems or working with PHI

• API development (Node, Python, or Go)

• Experience with compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2)
