Senior Data Engineer\n\n\nOverview\n\nA senior, hands-on data engineering role within a growing data and analytics team undergoing platform modernisation. The role combines deep technical delivery with strong stakeholder engagement, feature ownership, and mentorship responsibilities.\n\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nOwn complex end-to-end ETL pipelines using Python and SQL\nDesign and develop data solutions across a cloud-based data lake using a layered (Bronze / Silver / Gold) architecture\nBuild and maintain SQL objects (stored procedures, views, complex queries)\nTranslate business requirements into clear, well-specified data features\nProduce and maintain technical documentation (solution designs, data dictionaries, runbooks)\nAct as a quality bar for engineering standards through code review and design input\nKeep stakeholders informed on progress, delivery, and dependencies\nCoach and support less experienced engineers\nContribute to data architecture and future platform direction\nActively use AI tools to accelerate development, improve quality, and enhance documentation\n\n\nTechnology Environment\n\nPrimary cloud platform: Microsoft Azure\nCore tools and services may include:\nAzure SQL\nCloud data lake / analytics services (e.g. Synapse or equivalent)\nData orchestration tools\nCI/CD and version control systems\nFamiliarity with modern analytics platforms and BI tooling desirable\n\n\nEssential Skills & Experience\n\nStrong commercial experience with Python and SQL (mandatory)\nProduction-grade ETL development (logging, error handling, testing)\nExperience with cloud data lake architectures\nOrchestration, CI/CD, and collaborative development workflows\nExperience leading data feature specification with business stakeholders\nAbility to write clear, maintainable technical documentation\nProven experience mentoring or supporting other engineers\nAI-first mindset for modern data engineering workflows\n\n\nDesirable Experience\n\nData platform migration or re‑platforming\nIntegration of AI / LLM capabilities into data workflows\nExperience in regulated or data-intensive industries\nBI reporting experience\nFamiliarity with Kanban or similar delivery approaches\n\nIn accordance with the Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003, this position is advertised based upon DGH Recruitment Limited having first sought approval of its client to find candidates for this position.\n\nDGH Recruitment Limited acts as both an Employment Agency and Employment Business
