Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Metallurgical, or Materials)
Knowledge and/or Experience
- Minimum 6 years' experience in corrosion control and mitigation within the oil/gas production industry
- Skilled and competent in:
- Chemical inhibition
- Corrosion monitoring
- Material selection
- Degradation mechanisms
- Failure analysis for sour service and utilities facilities
- Protective coatings
- Cathodic protection
- Experience with corrosion systems and in-plant facilities with sour feed gas and plant exposure to a marine climate, including utilities
- Working knowledge of national and local codes, international codes and standards, statutory regulations, NDT, and inspection techniques
Key Responsibilities
- Review material and design requirements of new projects and modifications, including monitoring criteria for corrosion programs such as cathodic protection, protective coating and lining, chemical inhibition, and corrosion monitoring systems. Provide recommendations to supervisor.
- Conduct corrosion monitoring, prevention activities, and investigations. Monitor Integrity Operating Windows, assess equipment life, and advise on operational suitability.
- Develop Scope of Work (SOW) and participate in reviewing test reports for technical evaluation of corrosion-related contracts such as chemical selection for corrosion prevention in pipelines and process plants.
- Develop painting/coating requirements for pipelines, structures, equipment, and tanks. Advise on system selection and quality control procedures; inspect paint condition and coordinate quality control checks with inspectors.
- Provide direct and indirect corrosion engineering advice to multiple internal and external parties, including acting as a technical representative with external organizations.
- Develop and maintain corrosion and integrity-related procedures, processes, standards, and best practices to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement. Assess regional programs for consistency with company policies.
- Develop, implement, and manage corrosion engineering programs for company facilities, including offshore platforms, pipelines, onshore process facilities, refinery, storage, export, and loading facilities. Ensure cost-effective corrosion control and monitoring equipment is utilized.
- Review and analyze corrosion engineering reports, test results, failure investigations, and provide actionable recommendations to restore equipment functionality or extend equipment life. Perform risk analysis for corrosion-related assessments.
- Drive strategic technical innovation and provide expertise in corrosion control and mitigation, including chemical treatment, cathodic protection, material selection, and protective systems.
- Raise PMCRs for corrosion studies and for changes related to cathodic protection, coatings, and lining.
