Senior Control System Engineer

Job Description

Lead Control System Engineer

Regularly hybrid role with the potential for remote stints in the South of England | Great with flexible working

up to £72k base + 34 days holiday

Talentometry have partnered with a British machine builder who are operating at the bleeding edge of manufacturing technology to recruit a Lead Control System Engineer for the organization (Siemens / Rockwell PLCs & Electrical Design)

The product / solution

Their solution utilises a wide range of sensor tech and is combined with the very latest advancements within artificial intelligence and then further combined with fast moving motion control / robotics. The solution is used by blue-chip manufacturers.

The solution is controlled by PLCs - there is some high level software integration managed by other software engineers.

This patented technology is now seeing mass adoption globally within manufacturing facilities – as a result, our client is in the process of scaling up it’s business to meet this demand.

The solution replaces a critical human-controlled element of high value manufacturing process which previously could not be resolved by traditional automation tech.

The challenge in the role

If you are someone who is driven by the need to be work on lots of different smaller non-complex PLC software projects with lax version / documentation control then this really isn’t for you.

Currently each project is approached as a brand new PLC project, however, the company really want to streamline this process in order to scale.

The customers who buy these solutions are often blue-chip companies – documentation and client engagement are critical parts of the role.

You have a golden opportunity in this role to architect a series of solutions / infrastructure in the way that the PLC engineers code to help improve scalability.

You will be the lead PLC engineer in the business, leading 2-3 other PLC engineers. Progression to Principal Engineer will include expanding your team via other IIOT software engineers / electrical engineers.

You are backed by a business which is rapidly scaling and is partnered with global VC organizations known in the SF Bay area for successfully rapidly scaling other automation tech businesses in a similar way.

What are we looking for

- Siemens / Rockwell PLC experience (complex project experience coding both ladder and structured text without the use of an existing library or previous projects)

- Electrical Design experience (EPLAN / AutoCAD Electrical)

- Control System Integrator experience

- Excellent longevity when it comes to time served within current companies
