Senior Consultant - Flood Risk & Hydraulic Modelling\n\nLondon or Leeds\n Salary: Competitive + Benefits\n\nWe are hiring for a Senior Consultant (Flood Risk & Hydraulic Modelling) on behalf of a leading independent environmental consultancy, recognised for delivering high-quality, cross-disciplinary solutions in environmental policy, strategy, design, and assessment.\n\nDue to sustained growth and a strong pipeline of projects, this is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking consultancy that puts sustainability, innovation and collaboration at its core.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDevelop and troubleshoot hydraulic models (fluvial and pluvial) using Flood Modeller Pro and TUFLOW.\n\nUndertake hydrological assessments and interpret modelling results to inform development feasibility and design.\n\nPrepare Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) to support planning applications and conditions discharge.\n\nContribute to projects across sectors including property, renewable energy and aviation.\n\nLiaise with the Environment Agency on model reviews and technical requirements.\n\nCommunicate opportunities and constraints to clients, including integration of flood mitigation measures into masterplans.\n\nUse GIS and AutoCAD to support modelling and reporting outputs.\n\nPrepare clear, concise technical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders.\n\nWork with project teams from strategy development through feasibility, outline design, and planning submission.\n\nWhat We're Looking For:\n\n+ years' experience in hydraulic modelling and/or Flood Risk Assessments.Good knowledge of UK planning policy and guidance relating to flood risk (e.g. NPPF).\n\nSkilled in Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, GIS and AutoCAD.\n\nUnderstanding of hydrology and rainfall-runoff analysis.\n\nExperience liaising with the EA and understanding their model review process.\n\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.\n\nTrack record in producing FRAs (or strong interest in developing this expertise further).\n\nAwareness of project management and commercial delivery.\n\nWhat's On Offer:\n\nCompetitive salary and benefits package.\n\nHybrid working - balance of office and home-based working.\n\nFull-time or part-time considered.\n\nEnhanced pension scheme.\n\nPrivate medical insurance.\n\nGenerous annual leave entitlement (with the option to purchase additional leave).\n\nLife assurance, cycle scheme, rail/bus season ticket loans.\n\nCPD and training programme with structured career development opportunities.\n\nEmployee recognition awards and social value initiatives.\n\nFlexible working, mental health support and Employee Assistance Programme.\n\nWith over 30 years of proven success, this consultancy has been recognised as a top 25 environmental and sustainability consultancy in the UK.
