Senior Commercial Manager

My clients who are an innovative defence company are recruiting for a Senior Commercial Manager to join on a permanent basis in Bristol (hybrid working arrangements C.2 days in the office per week).

The Senior Commercial Manager will be responsible for working closely with the senior leadership team to further establish commercial policies, processes, procedures and to manage end-to-end commercial contract management activities with a broad range of clients including UK MOD and lots of different international customers.

Please note all applicants must be eligible to gain UK Security Clearance (SC Level).

Type - Permanent

Salary – £65,000 - £80,000 + bonus + private healthcare + other various competitive benefits

Key responsibilities of the Senior Commercial Manager role will include not be limited to:

  • Accountability for the preparation, review, negotiation and acceptance of all contractual agreements, including bids, proposals, frameworks and contracts with customers, business partners and suppliers.
  • Management of supply chain including supplier risk management and collaboration with the business leadership to develop a supply chain strategy for the full range of activities.
  • An in-depth of knowledge in defence contracting and other forms of terms & conditions, laws, and regulations and industry trends.
  • Have an understanding of Import/Export terms and methods.
  • Ensuring that the highest standards of practice and output in the execution of commercial, legal, trade compliance and procurement/supply chain related matters and that they are configured to support the growing business needs and requirements of the Company.
  • Excellent organisational skills to balance and prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Develop appropriate policies and procedures relevant to commercial matters.
  • Reviewing and developing operational processes to improve performance and maximise growth.
  • Working across relevant departments to develop accurate and consistent bids including identifying and managing risk assessments for new initiatives.
  • Overseeing, developing, and working in cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of project management and risk management and solid financial skills, including financial reporting.

Key skills and experience required for Senior Commercial Manager and not limited to:

  • Combines experience, intuition and strategic thinking to make considered judgements about the overall impact on the business and people, including potential threats
  • Experience in managing commercial risk
  • Broad business awareness enabling an appropriate contribution at a senior level
  • Proven relevant experience gained in a commercial discipline in a high-tech industry, ideally within the aerospace, defence or other similar technology/technical sectors
  • Knowledge of the contract development process, contract terms and conditions is a prerequisite for this role
