Overview
Responsible for the design of deliverables associated with the civil portion of power transmission and substation design projects supporting one of our electric utility clients in California. Design activities typically include engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, reports, and other similar engineering documents. The successful candidate will report directly to the Civil Engineering manager or Director of Engineering.

Design, plan, and supervise the construction of infrastructure projects such as power transmission, distribution, substation, electric vehicle charging stations for utility clients.
Participate in field visits to gather project information and estimate materials, equipment, and labor needed to determine project costs.
Directs and oversees staff members regarding construction, operations, and/or maintenance tasks and assignments at a project site
Consults with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and structural repairs
Uses design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs; plans and designs other necessary and related systems and structures such as transportation or structures
Sets design specifications by computing grade requirements, ADA access, traffic flow rates, and similar parameters
Plans projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data
Drafts and presents reports on topics related to projects such as environmental impact statements and right-of-way descriptions
Collaborate with architects and clients to ensure projects progress properly
Collaborates with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction
Monitors project progress and ensure design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards are met
Supports non-discretionary permitting with agencies having jurisdiction such as cities, counties, forest, state, federal, etc.
On completion of a project, inspects, repairs, and maintains the structures as needed
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET approved college or university.
Minimum 8+ years of experience providing Civil Engineering Services for electric utilities or consulting firm.Professional Engineer’s License in civil engineering.
Strong understanding of grading, drainage, utility design, and site layout principles.
Proficient in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other relevant design software.
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Wage Data Per State Requirements
The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $170,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
