Senior Civil Engineer (10+ years)

Be among the first 25 applicants. Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with ten or more years of experience for our DC Metro office. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. The successful individual will work closely with our business development team and other discipline leaders in developing technical proposals and will take a proactive role in marketing/business development. This role provides the opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidisciplinary office. This candidate will be working directly with clients providing consulting services.
Coffman Engineers is a multidisciplinary engineering and construction firm offering civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, corrosion control, project/construction management, and related services. We operate as prime or sub consultant on projects across commercial, retail, institutional, government, and industrial sectors, with locations in the United States and overseas.
Responsibilities
Perform civil analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of projects
Manage and design multiple concurrent projects
Interpret technical drawings and lead design team efforts
Manage project teams for budget and schedule control
Develop and qualification-based proposals
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and a variety of Civil Engineering design software
Proficient in HydroCAD, StormCAD and SWMM (or similar) stormwater modeling programs
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, technical studies, and prepare civil construction documents
Collaborate with architects, owners, and contractors to produce well-coordinated drawings
Travel as required
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering
10+ years of applicable industry experience
Experience providing consulting services including site grading, earthwork calculations, drainage design and reports, utility layout and sizing, and technical report writing
Land development experience in life sciences, commercial, office, higher education, mixed-use, residential, healthcare, municipal, or Federal projects
Proactive leadership of project teams and interdisciplinary projects; ability to develop preliminary to final design calculations and drawings
Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus; active local industry involvement is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources
Compensation And Benefits
Base salary range discussed based on qualifications and experience
Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
Discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance
Hybrid work schedule (subject to change)
401(k) with company matching
