Senior Civil Design Engineer\n\nLocation: Manchester, UK (hybrid)\nRate: £45 - £55 per hour, outside IR35\nDuration: 6 months+\nStart Date: ASAP / Jan 2026Turner Lovell are recruiting on behalf of a leading international engineering contractor delivering large-scale electrical infrastructure and grid connection projects across the UK. We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Design Engineers to support the design and coordination of civil and structural elements for major infrastructure projects.\n This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer with proven experience leading civil design packages from tender through to construction, working within a multi-disciplinary project environment.\n Key Responsibilities:\n\nLead civil and structural design for multiple high-voltage infrastructure projects.\nDeliver detailed designs using hand calculations and design software (Tedds, STAAD-Pro, MasterSeries).\nOversee and review consultant designs for accuracy, compliance, and buildability.\nPrepare and manage design scopes, tender documentation, and technical deliverables.\nCoordinate effectively with electrical, mechanical, and architectural teams.\nProvide technical support to procurement and construction teams throughout project delivery.\nTrack design progress, lead reviews, and ensure delivery to programme.\nUndertake site visits to validate designs and address construction challenges.\nMaintain full compliance with CDM, Building Regulations, and HSE standards.Requirements:\n\nDegree-qualified in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline.\nProven experience delivering civil and structural designs within energy, infrastructure, or industrial projects.\nStrong knowledge of UK and European design codes, standards, and regulations.\nSkilled in reviewing consultant designs and ensuring technical accuracy and efficiency.\nFamiliar with geotechnical assessments, drainage design, and earthworks principles.\nConfident managing design interfaces across multiple engineering disciplines.Desirable:\n\nExperience in high-voltage or renewable energy projects.\nUnderstanding of fire safety and life protection design.\nWorking knowledge of the Specification for Highway Works.If you're an experienced Civil Design Engineer seeking your next challenge on a major UK energy infrastructure project, please apply or contact Maddie Jacob / Hope Brown at (url removed) / for more information
