Role Description
The Senior Buyer / Procurement Analyst is responsible for managing supplier relationships, optimizing procurement strategies, and ensuring material availability to support production. This role balances strategic supply chain analysis with day-to-day purchasing execution. The position evaluates supplier performance, pricing strategies, inventory levels, and make-versus-buy opportunities to support company growth, cost control, and operational efficiency.
This role works closely with production, engineering, and finance to ensure the right materials are purchased at the right time, price, and quantity while maintaining strong supplier partnerships.
Primary Objectives:
- Ensure uninterrupted material supply for production operations
- Drive cost reduction through supplier negotiation and strategic purchasing
- Analyze inventory levels and procurement trends to optimize purchasing decisions
- Strengthen supplier partnerships and vendor performance
- Support operational growth through supply chain strategy and continuous improvement
- Evaluate make vs. buy opportunities in partnership with engineering and production
- Analyze purchase quantities, price breaks, and inventory carrying costs to optimize ordering strategies
- Monitor supply chain risks and identify alternative sourcing options when needed
- Track supplier pricing trends and identify cost savings opportunities
- Develop and maintain vendor performance metrics and scorecards
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and lead times
- Identify and onboard new vendors as needed
- Monitor supplier performance for quality, delivery, and responsiveness
- Issue and manage purchase orders through the ERP system (FileMaker)
- Ensure materials are delivered in alignment with production schedules
- Maintain accurate vendor pricing and purchasing data within ERP
- Manage open purchase orders and follow up on delivery commitments
- Coordinate outside processing requirements when necessary
- Work closely with production, engineering, and finance to support operational goals
- Assist with ECO implementation impacting purchased components
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain function
- 3–7 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
- Experience managing supplier relationships and negotiations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to interpret technical drawings / blueprints
- ERP experience required
- Strong proficiency in Excel and data analysis
- Strategic thinking and decision making
