Position Title: Senior Cloud Engineer | Azure & Cloud Network Specialist

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid 3 days onsite)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Role Summary
The Senior Cloud Engineer | Azure & Cloud Network Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and operational management of Azure cloud infrastructure and cloud network architectures. This role will focus heavily on Azure networking, hybrid connectivity, cloud security, automation, and multi-region deployment strategies to support mission-critical enterprise workloads.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on expertise in Azure infrastructure, network engineering, cloud migration, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/ARM), and security best practices including Zero Trust and RBAC governance.
Responsibilities:

Design, deploy, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical enterprise applications.

Architect and implement Azure networking solutions including VNETs, VNET peering, VPN Gateways, and ExpressRoute.

Engineer multi-region Azure architectures to ensure high availability, resiliency, and low latency.

Lead cloud migration projects, reducing on-prem footprint and improving infrastructure efficiency.

Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and ARM templates for automated deployments.

Implement and optimize network security controls using NSGs, Azure Firewall, and DDoS Protection.

Collaborate with security teams to enforce Zero Trust principles, RBAC governance, and encryption standards.

Configure and manage Azure Monitor and Log Analytics for proactive monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting.

Conduct network performance tuning to reduce latency and improve application response times.

Support hybrid cloud connectivity between on-prem and Azure with secure high-throughput solutions.

Implement and support Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions using Azure Site Recovery (ASR) for critical workloads.

Provide technical leadership, documentation, and cross-team collaboration across cloud, network, and security teams.
