Senior Operations Analyst - Energy Data Validation

Base Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000

Bonus - typically up to 10%

We are looking for someone with advanced Excel skills. Energy experience is not required but would certainly be a plus. Hybrid to Baltimore, onsite Tues - Thurs.

We are seeking a Senior Operations Analyst, Energy Data Validation to support the integrity and accuracy of critical energy data across a growing portfolio of distributed renewable energy initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with meaningful customer projects while gaining hands-on exposure to the evolving distributed energy landscape.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with the ability to interpret complex technical energy data and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This individual will take ownership of validation outcomes, identify issues, recommend next steps, and contribute to continuous process improvement. Familiarity with energy consumption, utility billing, and metering concepts is helpful.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal teams and utilities to obtain and organize utility data sets.
  • Validate energy-related data from multiple sources, including utility invoices, interval usage files, and metering systems.
  • Compare datasets using internal and third-party tools; conduct manual validation and reconciliation when required.
  • Support recurring and annual revalidation activities to ensure ongoing metering accuracy and data quality.
  • Track, analyze, and report on validation metrics, trends, and exceptions.
  • Identify recurring discrepancies and recommend process improvements to strengthen data quality and reduce future exceptions.
  • Contribute to the continuous enhancement of validation workflows, controls, and operating procedures.
  • Support metering audits and regulatory reviews through data analysis, documentation preparation, and issue remediation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, energy, engineering, or a related field .
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency required; experience with SQL and VBA strongly .
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to apply data insights to practical business decisions.
  • Experience with analytical and reporting tools such as Power BI, Python, or R is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Prior experience or academic exposure in energy, utilities, metering, or billing is a plus, but not required.
