Position Opportunity:

The Process Development Scientist I is involved in the development and optimization of processes to facilitate manufacturing and client requirements. The individual should display strong scientific knowledge and understanding of cell and virus culture, purification, and aseptic techniques. This individual will reliably and consistently provide scientific and technical contributions in a team atmosphere working cross functionally with internal departments.

This position is located in the Bryan-College Station area. The expectation is to be on site five business days a week, and off-shift and weekend work will be as required.

How you will make an impact:

  • Execute experimental protocols under the direction of a senior scientist or supervisor in a team environment.
  • Assist in authoring and revision of: SOPs, batch records, data presentations, study design and protocols.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of lab equipment, including but not limited to, automated cell counters, CO2 incubators, bio-analyzers, microscopes, pumps, bioreactors, scales, tubing welders/sealers and pH/conductivity meters.
  • Maintain lab cleaning procedures to ensure a state of control.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of lab consumables and reagents.
  • Collaborate and have excellent communication with stake holders and departments within Matica.
  • Provide feedback to leadership on the set up, execution, and analysis of experimental protocols and technical reports.
  • Present problems and propose solutions in discussions with group members.
  • Research and propose innovative solutions and ideas and share with the department under the direction of a senior scientist or supervisor.
  • Support supervisor and leadership by assisting with tasks including, but not limited to, budget management and scheduling.
  • Maintain good communication across the team and with leadership.
  • Perform other duties as required.

As a future Matican you bring:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum in a scientific discipline e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Virology, Biomedical, Bioengineering, etc.

Experience:

  • 2 + years in a process development role with a cGMP, cGLP and/or FDA-regulated environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Experience working with upstream processes and equipment., i.e. suspension cell culture, adherent cell culture, bioreactor operation, transfection or transduction.
  • Consideration will be given to the relevancy and quality of the job experience.
