Job Description
Launch your career in engineering or science on one of the UK’s most ambitious and impactful low-carbon infrastructure programmes. This 16-month Science & Engineering Graduate Scheme gives you the opportunity to work on a nationally significant energy project supporting the UK’s journey to net zero, gaining technical experience, industry exposure and a pathway towards chartership.

Key Criteria:
Essential
- 2:2 or above in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- Right to work in the UK from programme start date
- Interest in engineering, science and low-carbon energy
- Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Willingness to travel or relocate for placements
- Eligible for UK Security Vetting
- Curiosity, willingness to learn, and collaborative mindset
Desirable
- Experience in engineering, technical, lab or project environments (placements or internships)
- Familiarity with engineering software (e.g., CAD, modelling tools, MATLAB, Python)
- Understanding of nuclear, energy or large infrastructure sectors
- Evidence of teamwork, leadership or extracurricular engineering activity
- Demonstrated interest in gaining chartership
About the Programme
Over 16 months, you will rotate through technical and engineering teams, developing strong foundations in:
- Project engineering
- Technical design
- Control & instrumentation
- Mathematics, physics, chemistry
- Human factors and civil engineering
- Systems engineering and problem-solving
You’ll be supported by a dedicated line manager, placement manager, mentor, and buddy throughout the scheme.
This programme is accredited by multiple professional bodies and supports pathways toward chartered status, including:
- IET, IMechE, ICE, IChemE, RSC, IMA, IoP, IEMA, IoM3
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Science & Engineering Graduate, you will:
- Contribute to live engineering and technical projects with real delivery impact
- Assist with analysis, modelling, reporting and design activities
- Support technical decision-making and cross-functional coordination
- Apply scientific and engineering principles to solve complex challenges
- Build stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Develop strong foundations for roles such as Technical Engineer, Technical Lead, Project Engineer, or future Head of Function
Location & Travel
You will be based in Suffolk, with 3–6 month rotations in other UK locations to broaden your exposure to the nuclear and energy sectors.
Who We’re Looking For
To apply, you must have (or be expecting to achieve) a 2:2 or above in:
- Civil or Structural Engineering
