Maintenance Technician-(PCL Experience)

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly talented Maintenance Technician to join our team. We’re seeking a hardworking professional who likes meeting challenges and surpassing client expectations. As the Maintenance Technician, your duties will include conducting quality assessments, scheduling repairs, maintaining inventory, and developing preventative maintenance procedures. You will help troubleshoot and repair any mechanical or electrical problems when they arise. You must be a problem-solver with exceptional communication and organizational skills

To excel in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of welding machinery and electrical equipment. The successful candidate will also have a steady hand and outstanding attention to detail.

Skills considered a plus are welding, fabrication, and PLC/automation.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Inspecting buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues.
  • Fully understands electrical and motor/pump repairs
  • Conducting periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard.
  • Performing general maintenance tasks including landscaping, painting, and carpentry.
  • Maintaining the inventory records for equipment and supplies.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and root cause analysis to figure out problems with machinery or equipment.
  • Test the machine or run an initial batch to make sure that the machine is running properly.
  • Adjust and calibrate equipment or machinery as per specifications.
  • Routine inspection and testing of equipment and machinery – this needs to be planned to ensure minimal disruption of processes.
  • Test malfunctioning machinery to determine whether major repairs are needed.
  • Preventative maintenance tasks to try to minimize unexpected issues with equipment.
  • Responding to alerts and carrying out corrective procedures and repairs in line with SOPs and maintenance protocols.
  • Keep all documentation of both routine checks and repairs up-to-date and in line with both internal and external procedures.
  • Maintains logs of any downtime within the manufacturing system.
  • May be involved in the training of production staff on routine maintenance procedures.
  • May also be required to keep a stock of spare parts, ordering, and replacing as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
  • Proven experience in fabrication & machining; lathe, mill, and welding machinery experience
  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) to take accurate measurements
  • Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
  • Good with analytical math abilities and capable to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items
  • Strong communication skills and ability work independently and with other team members and able to follow instructions with clear attention to detail
  • Background in chemical manufacturing & liquid packaging is
  • Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.
  • Experience with PVC plumbing
  • Experience with MIG and TIG welding
  • Experience with powered hand tools (saws, drills, grinders, etc.)
  • Ability to travel for prolonged periods (2 weeks to 8 weeks with breaks in between)
  • Experience with construction equipment (forklifts, scissor lift, boom, etc.)
