Sales Engineer – Rockwell Automation Safety and Sensors

Revere Electric Supply Company, a well-established electrical automation distributor and market leader, is seeking a Sales Engineer (SE) in the Northern IL territory.

A successful candidate will provide engineering sales support for the specification and selection of Rockwell Automation and Partnering Safety, Sensor, Connectivity, and Industrial Control products. The role is primarily a self-directed regional outside position involving local travel to customers.

The SE will support the Corporate Strategic Business Plan and be required to have and maintain technical acumen to support related Business Unit (BU) products. They will have demonstrated technical, sales, commercial, and interpersonal skills, and the desire for personal and professional development.

skills, background, and / or experience:

  1. Have core competency for the current technology as it relates to Safety, Sensor and Connectivity, Industrial Control Products. Experience with I/O Solutions, and Small Controllers would be beneficial.
  2. Ability to identify and demonstrate technology solutions for customer applications.
  3. Ability to provide pre and post technical support for internal/external customers.
  4. Ability to conduct training and seminars for customers, driving interest in Revere solutions.

As well as the above, qualified candidate should have an interest in developing or have the following experience and skills:

  1. Ability to lead, motivate and support a distributor organization.
  2. Strong presentation skills in a group and individual settings.
  3. Ability to lead and coordinate the sales teaming efforts required to identify and close account conversion and project sales opportunities.
  4. Promote the value-add of the assigned products in competitive situations.
  5. Strong arbitration skills to effectively listen, communicate, and gain consensus.
  6. Identify customer needs, propose solutions, and close orders for assigned products.
  7. Identify and maintain competitive market knowledge.
  8. Develop and execute strategies for market share growth.
  9. Develop and support marketing, promotional, and commercial programs.
  10. Effectively communicate commercial and technical product issues to Vendors.
  11. Be a thought leader on Social Media platforms.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Four-year engineering/technical degree . Technical associate degree or applicable experience considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Industrial Automation market .
  • Demonstrated knowledge & understanding of Automation standards & terminology.
    1. Knowledge of control systems and computer technology.
    2. Knowledge of Rockwell Automation IC, Sensor, and Safety products is a plus.
    3. Knowledge of Industrial Safety control solutions is a plus.
    4. Knowledge of Small PLC controllers is a plus.
    5. Strong application knowledge.
  • Team-oriented individual who strives for customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of an organization.
  • Proficient with Windows based operation systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated.
  • Driver’s License and vehicle.


Physical Demands

Requires lifting demo cases / equipment at ~50 lbs. and at times may require two people to safely lift and transport some demo cases / equipment.

  • May require setting up demo equipment for training, assisting loading / unloading of demo equipment.
  • At times may be required to assist in setting up / tearing down tables and chairs for customer events

Compensation $99,840 - $148,600 annually.

This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, and skills.
For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in an incentive or sales compensation plan paid according to achievement against sales targets and/or business objectives.
