Safety Training Coordinator
Job Description
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Safety Manager, this position is responsible for developing and implementing safety training programs, conducting safety and training audits, and delivering safety training sessions to employees, while promoting a culture of safety.
Essential Functions:
- Develops training in accordance with Port safety policies and procedures. Sets learning objectives and provides instructional materials.
- Collaborates with subject matter experts to ensure training modules are in accordance with authorities having jurisdiction.
- Stays updated on the latest industry-specific safety regulations, trends, and technologies to improve training programs.
- Manages logistics, scheduling, and administrative tasks for training programs.
- Conducts or facilitates engaging and informative training sessions, and ensures content aligns with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Conducts needs assessments to identify gaps in safety knowledge.
- Maintains accurate records of training sessions and participant attendance.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs and adjusts as necessary. Develops and implements inventory policies and procedures.
- Gathers training participants' feedback and evaluates learning objectives
- Actively promotes a culture of safety and risk awareness.
- Encourages employee participation in safety initiatives and reporting of safety concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Education
Associate's Degree
Education Focus Areas:
Occupational Safety and Health Management
Minimum Required Experience
5 years - Developing and coordinating safety training
Substitutions allowed for Education: Indicated education required; no substitutions allowed.
Substitutions allowed for Experience: Education beyond an Associate’s degree may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Minimum Required Knowledge:
- Knowledge of OSHA General Industry and Construction regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software in a PC environment, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Certification or Licensure Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must obtain a TWIC authorization card.
Physical Requirements/ADA
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasionally requires standing and lifting up to 25 pounds. Ability to travel throughout all facilities as required to conduct safety training.
