Job DescriptionJob Description
The Safety Specialist is responsible for the enforcement and training of safety processes and development of safety procedures for their assigned shift. This position reports directly to the safety and quality manager.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for monitoring that daily job tasks are being carried out are compliant with safety guidelines and utilizing the corrective action policies and hands on training as needed to keep employees safe in steel fabrication facility.
- Provide technical support and problem solving in troubleshooting safety issues on the floor.
- Assist in conducting job hazard analysis & training new manufacturing employees.
- Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Maintain & update safety controls and documentation procedures.
- Assist with internal compliance audits and program evaluations.
- Instruct safety-related training and participating in continuing safety education.
- Support the safety department as a valuable and knowledgeable resource.
- Provide technical support in management of safety related topics including LOTO
- Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
- Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
Requirements
- Safety regulatory knowledge (OSHA, ANSI, ASME, NFPA, etc.)
- Outstanding communication and training skills
- Highly organized and able to successfully manage multiple projects.
- Capable of working independently in a self-directed environment
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience of safety experience .
- Experience working within the manufacturing/fabrication industry .
