Day to day as a Safety Specialist

As a Safety Specialist at Barrett Petfood, your day-to-day expectations will revolve around fostering a culture of safety and compliance. You will conduct regular safety inspections and audits, identifying potential hazards and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you'll develop and implement safety training programs that emphasize customer-centricity and innovation.

What You'll Do

• Support safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards

• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments

• Assist in leading safety training programs for employees across the plant

• Investigate incidents, document findings, and recommend corrective actions

• Track and analyze safety data and trends to drive continuous improvement

• Support emergency response planning and drills

• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to strengthen safety practices

• Be an active leader on safety committee
• Ability to be an onsite first responder

What We're Looking For

• Experience: Previous experience in safety, EHS, or manufacturing (food or pet food but not required)

• Knowledge: Basic understanding of OSHA regulations, safety compliance, and incident investigation

• Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills
