Job Description

The Mar-Allen Safety/Quality Control (QC) Director is responsible for the implementation, oversight, leadership and support of Mar-Allen’s Environmental Health, Safety and Quality Control programs. This position will work closely with all levels of management and field personnel to ensure Mar-Allen’s standards and methodologies are communicated and targeted goals are achieved through individual as well as team-based objectives and strategies. This position reports to the President of Mar-Allen and partners closely with the leadership team.

Job Location

This position is based in Ephrata, PA and involves travel in a company provided vehicle to company projects & suppliers anywhere in the Northeastern US

Job Requirements

  • Actively participates with Operations leadership team in the areas of Safety & QC Plans, Site Health & Safety Plans (HASP) for Project Planning, management of Toolbox Talks, compliance initiatives and governmental/regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the reporting of & collection of QC samples from projects both directly and indirectly across the various projects
  • Develop Mar-Allen’s team capabilities, with a view of upgrading knowledge and skills, building training plans, and ensuring all project sites have adequate capacity and capabilities to meet required Mar-Allen Safety & QC standards (including effective training and development systems, processes, and tools)
  • Serve as a key member of the Mar-Allen leadership team with responsibility for assisting in implementation of Mar-Allen strategies, policies, standards, compliance, and management initiatives
  • Perform Concrete QC site testing & Geotechnical load testing as required
  • Provides accident investigation for workers compensation, general liability and automotive liability cases; and coordinate with the Risk Manager
  • Ensure proper incident analysis and learning processes are in place and that they are effective toward the achievement of the company’s safety goals
  • Analyze/interpret metrics to proactively target and eliminate injuries, reduce injury rates and achieve positive outcomes through the development and execution of solid corrective actions and training
  • Manage and maintain the supply of safety supplies & safety equipment
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, and the public
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required (In most cases returning to base each day)
  • Valid Driver’s License

Qualifications

  • Construction or other related fields or have equivalent years of relevant experience
  • 2+ Years in Health & Safety and/or Construction Quality Control responsibility
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who will drive results and take ownership of Mar-Allen’s EHS & QC performance
  • Excellent communication skills & ability to reach across the various functional departments to facilitate seamless integration
  • Good business skills, strategic thinker, flexible, resilient, courageous, and composed under pressure
  • Experience facilitating/leading safety meetings and planning workshops with both internal departments and leaders of customers for the purpose of planning and finding solutions to safety & QC challenges
  • Detailed working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to effectively navigate and research regulatory agency and industry related web content
  • Nationally recognized Safety and Health Certifications or working towards them.
  • Experience working within a construction organization, leading geographically dispersed teams
