Construction Safety Manager – Data Center Projects (Fairfax, Iowa)

Position Overview
QPS is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Coordinator to support a large-scale data center project in Fairfax, Iowa. This is a hands-on, field-driven role responsible for maintaining a strong safety presence and ensuring full compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety standards. This position requires ownership of site safety—not passive observation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all on-site safety efforts
- Conduct site safety orientations for new hires and subcontractors
- Perform jobsite inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
- Enforce OSHA standards (29 CFR 1926) and project safety protocols
- Identify unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action
- Lead incident investigations and near-miss reporting
- Maintain safety documentation and reporting
- Deliver toolbox talks and ongoing safety training
- Partner with Superintendents and Project Managers
- Monitor high-risk work (LOTO, fall protection, energized systems, rigging, confined space)
- Ensure PPE compliance across all trades
- Support emergency response planning
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of construction safety experience
- Strong knowledge of OSHA (29 CFR 1926)
- OSHA 30 required (OSHA 500/510 )
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Experience with audits and incident investigations
- Ability to work in fast-paced construction environments
- Strong communication and enforcement ability
Experience
- Data center or mission-critical construction
- Electrical and/or mechanical safety background
- Experience with large subcontractor teams
- Exposure to zero-incident safety cultures
Work Environment
- Active construction site (indoor/outdoor)
- PPE required at all times
- Walking, climbing, and extended field presence required
- May include overtime, weekends, or shift work
