Safety Director - Trucking Operations. We are a dynamic trucking company with over 300 employees, including drivers and support personnel, seeking an experienced Safety Director to lead our safety initiatives. This hands-on role requires someone who can not only oversee directorial duties but also manage day-to-day safety operations in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be personable, able to communicate effectively with drivers, and committed to enforcing rules respectfully—focusing on coaching opportunities rather than blame to foster a positive safety culture.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive safety strategy tailored to trucking operations.
- Manage daily safety activities, including compliance monitoring, incident investigations, and training programs.
- Collaborate closely with the maintenance shop, recruiting team, and all other departments to ensure integrated safety practices across the organization.
- Conduct hands-on coaching and education for drivers and staff to promote adherence to safety protocols.
- Oversee regulatory compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and other relevant standards.
- Relocation assistance to be discussed.
Qualifications:
- Proven hands-on experience in trucking safety management, preferably in a leadership role.
- Relevant education in safety management, occupational health, or a related field (certifications such as CSP or CDL a plus).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be strict yet respectful, emphasizing coaching and team-building.
- Demonstrated ability to create and execute safety strategies in a multi-departmental setting.
