Job Summary:


The Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing DHT's employee safety culture at work. The main duty is to ensure that the company is in compliance and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries. The Safety Coordinator will also administer Safety trainings and orientations, make Safety recommendations, and maintain a variety of Safety reports, logs, and files.


The candidate will have verifiable CDLA semi-truck driving experience in various combinations.


The candidate will be expected to perform the job function as listed immediately. This position is not remote, and candidate is expected to be able to commute to our main office in Reese daily. The position also requires occasional travel to other facilities as well as walking our facilities to inspect grounds and equipment for unreported equipment and safety issues.


Essential Duties:

  • Monitor and audit Driver logs, training records, and Driver files for multiple locations
  • Administer new employee Safety in coordination with the HR department
  • Maintain multiple DOT Safety and Compliance files and programs such as: Driver Qualification Files, the DOT Random Pool, and DOT and State Permits and Audits
  • Maintain multiple OSHA Safety and Compliance files and programs such as: OSHA 300 Injury Logs and MIOSHA Safety and Compliance
  • Assist in handling DHT’s fleet Insurance
  • Assist in maintaining DHT’s fleet plates and tabs
  • Maintain State and Federal environmental compliance
  • Create and update International Fuel Tax Reports and State-specific fuel tax reports
  • Investigate accidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future. Communicate such accidents to necessary legal counsel. Take remedial action against affected driver(s); to include one on one coaching, additional training, and disciplinary write ups.
  • Physically inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
  • Create, revise, and maintain company safety education materials
  • Communicate and conduct safety training as needed
  • Administer Workers Compensation claims, respond to inquiries, and maintain files
  • MIOSHA and/or OSHA exposure, training, or certification
  • Monitor and evaluate Personal Protective Equipment requirements, compliance, inventory, and distribution
  • Investigate and adjudicate driver traffic violations and attend court hearings as required

Requirements:

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Promote good communication and cooperation
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented
  • Must have the mindset to continuously look for improvements
  • Must be a team player who can also work autonomously
  • Previous verifiable class A vehicle driving experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing via telephone, email, and written correspondence
  • Ability to communicate one on one with drivers of various experience levels for training and coaching
  • Valid driver's license, CDLA, with acceptable MVR

Requirements:

  • Safety background or working knowledge of safety protocols relative to the trucking industry
  • Knowledgeable in OSHA policies

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen and background check
  • This position is not remote, and applicant will have to commute to the main office

• Salary position (starting at $45,000/yr. Negotiable depending on qualifications)
