We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to support workplace health, safety, and environmental efforts. This role is responsible for coordinating safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and execution of safety programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure workplace operations meet OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and other applicable safety standards.
- Maintain safety documentation, including inspection logs, equipment maintenance records, and hazard assessments.
- Manage the inventory and condition of safety supplies such as eye wash stations, respirators, and PPE.
- Document and follow up on incidents, accidents, and near misses, and support corrective action planning.
- Facilitate safety training for new hires and coordinate required annual or refresher courses.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to promote awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain contact with regulatory agencies and stay informed of updates and best practices.
- Coordinate vehicle safety inspections and assist with DOT compliance tracking.
- Ensure employees meet any required environmental compliance standards such as DNR regulations.
- Support regular safety committee and emergency response team (ERT) meetings.
- Keep safety policies, procedures, and SDS/GHS documentation up to date and organized.
- Communicate and work with vendors, contractors, and insurance representatives on safety-related matters.
- Ensure employees have access to necessary protective gear and functional equipment.
- Support supervisors and HR in documenting safety performance issues and corrective actions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in a safety-related role within a manufacturing or industrial setting .
- Working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and related safety regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify hazards and implement preventative measures.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
