About Terabase
Terabase Energy is accelerating the deployment of utility-scale solar power through automation, robotics, and digital technologies. Our Autonomy group develops robotic systems and intelligent software that improve the speed, safety, and cost of building large solar farms.
We work at the intersection of robotics, autonomy, controls, and real-world field systems, building technology that operates in outdoor construction environments.
Overview
We are seeking a highly curious and motivated engineering to join the Autonomy team in Davis, CA for Summer 2026. This is a hands-on role where you will work with engineers developing robotic and autonomous systems used in solar farm construction.
The ideal candidate is curious, adventurous, and eager to tackle a wide range of technical challenges — from software to hardware to field testing.
You will gain experience working on real robotic systems operating in real environments.
What You’ll Work On
Depending on your interests and project needs, you may contribute to:
- Development of robotics software and autonomy algorithms
- Robot perception, localization, or navigation systems
- Sensor integration (cameras, LiDAR, GPS, etc.)
- Controls and motion planning
- Data collection and analysis from robotic systems
- Field testing of robotic platforms at solar construction sites
- Prototyping and debugging robotic hardware and software
- Tools and infrastructure supporting autonomy development
Interns will work closely with robotics engineers and have opportunities to contribute to real projects deployed in the field.

Qualifications
We are looking for students who are excited about robotics and autonomy and enjoy solving challenging technical problems.
Required:
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field
- Strong curiosity and willingness to learn
- Comfortable working on a variety of problems
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Experience or coursework in one or more of:
- Robotics
- Autonomous systems
- Computer vision
- Control systems
- Embedded systems
- Mechanical systems
- Python or C++
- ROS / ROS2
Hands-on project experience (robotics clubs, personal projects, competitions, etc.) is highly valued.

Duration
Summer 2026 (typically 10–12 weeks), with a rate of $25-27 per hour.
