Van-Am Tool & Engineering is seeking an experienced Robotic Welder II to join our advanced manufacturing team. This role is ideal for a candidate with proven expertise in robotic welding systems who can take ownership of set-up, operation, and troubleshooting to deliver precision parts for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications.
Job Overview
As a Robotic Welder, you'll program, operate, and maintain Fanuc robotic welding cells to produce high-quality welded assemblies in compliance with customer specifications and AS9100/ISO 9001 standards. This role requires strong technical ability in welding processes, fixture setup, part verification, and process optimization. You'll also perform MIG and TIG welding as needed, contribute to continuous improvement projects, and support cross-functional production operations.
Key Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and troubleshoot robotic welding systems to ensure consistent, high-quality welds.

Program or adjust welding parameters for new and repeat jobs.

Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and welding symbols to confirm tolerances, joint designs, and production sequences.

Conduct first-piece inspections and use precision measuring tools to validate weld quality.

Perform finishing operations such as grinding and deburring to meet visual and dimensional standards.

Support quality audits by preparing samples, inspection reports, and documentation.

Operate additional equipment such as presses, lasers, and machine shop tools as required.

Participate in process improvement initiatives to reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and extend tooling life.
Required Qualifications

3+ years of robotic welding experience with a solid understanding of MIG/TIG processes.

Ability to interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and GD&T with accuracy.

Proficiency in setting fixtures, verifying part numbers, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in a fast-paced production environment.

Capability to complete documentation and system entries with accuracy.

Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work extended periods standing.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience programming Fanuc robotic welding systems.

Familiarity with aerospace or defense manufacturing standards (AS9100/ISO 9001).

AWS certification in MIG/TIG welding.

Demonstrated history of process improvement and quality compliance in a manufacturing setting.
