About the Role: The Risk, Contracts, and Policy Manager (with Paralegal Responsibilities) serves as the main point of contact at Westminster University for risk management, contract review and management, policy review and coordination, and liability insurance claims management. The Manager also serves as the institution’s in-house paralegal, supporting the legal review of documents, researching statutes and regulations, maintaining legal files, and facilitating communication with external counsel.
This role contributes to the University’s legal compliance and administrative efficiency through precise, proactive, and well-documented practices.
The Manager researches and assists in the development of university-wide policy documents to facilitate compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The manager audits policy implementation, initiates policy updates as appropriate, and supports legal compliance initiatives across the University. The Manager also oversees the University’s liability insurance program, evaluates the adequacy of insurance products, and manages contract workflows.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum of five years of significant and increasingly responsible experience in risk management and compliance.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work well with and motivate people.
- Experience with team-building strategies and an appreciation for cultural .

Qualifications:
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or equivalent legal training and experience.
- Experience reviewing, drafting, and managing contracts in a higher education, nonprofit, or public sector environment.
- Familiarity with higher education regulations, grant compliance requirements, and institutional risk management.
- Experience coordinating with general counsel or external legal advisors.
- Knowledge of insurance policy structures and claims administration processes.
- Proficiency in contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems or other digital contract tools.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate legal or regulatory concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
- Understanding of best practices in policy development and maintenance in a complex organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Contract Review and Management
- Review, draft, edit, and manage University contracts, MOUs, and grant agreements to ensure legal and institutional compliance.
- Negotiate terms and coordinate contract renewals, extensions, and cancellations.
- Maintain organized systems for contract storage and version control.
- Collaborate with departments to ensure timely contract execution and alignment with university policy.
Insurance and Risk Management
- Administer liability insurance policies and manage annual renewals.
- Maintain accurate insurance records and ensure vendor compliance with insurance requirements.
- Analyze risk exposure and recommend additional coverage where necessary.
- Liaise with insurance providers and serve as a point of contact for claims, including student-athlete injuries and property damage.
Policy Management
- Lead development, revision, and tracking of university policies and procedures.
- Coordinate policy review cycles and stakeholder engagement.
- Proofread and edit policies for clarity, consistency, and compliance.
- Ensure the University policy website is accurate and up to date.
Paralegal Support
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings on applicable laws and regulations.
- Support the preparation and review of contracts, policies, and official University documents.
- Coordinate with legal counsel and manage document production requests as needed.
- Maintain legal files and assist with compliance documentation.
