Job Description Job Description Description: Job Title: Rig Mechanic Job Grade: 15 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Production Manager Appraisal Type: Employee Job Purpose: The Rig Mechanic performs all tasks and duties of a mechanical discipline (including welding) to dissemble machinery, remove parts, build parts, or make repairs. Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs maintenance and repairs on company owned and customer equipment in the shop/field. Assists in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance. Cuts sheet metal, pipe, and bar stock for jobs. Layouts and drills holes in raw material and tap holes for jobs, layouts and builds parts for jobs from prints, tears down and cleans up and installs bearings in gearboxes, tubing drums and sand drums. Does all types of welding: performs cutting, plumbing and electrical work. Does all types of fabrication work either building new or repairing broken equipment. Works in the shop doing repair work, running pipe, cutting off pipe, and welding slip collars, and performing safety inspections. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Secures tools, materials, and equipment at end of day. Additional duties as assigned. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to customers, coworkers and management. Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and job instructions with basic problem solving/troubleshooting skills. Must be able to read welding symbols and measure accurately. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to use hand tools and power tools. Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products. Ability to use department equipment. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
