Job LocationSan Diego, CA, Onsite. Minimal domestic travel required.Job DescriptionGALT Aerospace is seeking a full-time salaried, RF Engineering Technician. They will support the design, testing, and maintenance of radio frequency (RF) systems and components. This role requires hands-on expertise in RF measurement techniques and tools, coupled with a strong understanding of fundamental electronic principles. The ideal candidate will work closely with RF engineers to ensure the performance, reliability, and compliance of RF systems in alignment with project requirements and industry standards.Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform RF testing using tools such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and power meters to evaluate system performance, signal integrity, and compliance with specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in RF circuits, antennas, and systems, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.
  • Assemble, calibrate, and test RF components, modules, and systems, including amplifiers, filters, and transceivers.
  • Collect, document, and analyze test data, preparing detailed reports to support engineering teams in design validation and optimization.
  • Configure and maintain RF test setups, ensuring proper calibration and functionality of measurement tools and equipment.
  • Work closely with RF engineers, design teams, and other technicians to support project milestones, including prototyping, testing, and production phases.
  • Maintain accurate records of test procedures, results, and equipment configurations, adhering to company standards and industry's best practices.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety protocols, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including FCC and NIST guidelines where applicable.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an RF technician or in a similar role involving RF systems and measurements.
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) personnel security clearance
  • Proficiency with RF measurement tools (e.g., spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators)
  • Strong understanding of RF principles, including impedance matching, signal propagation, and antenna theory.
  • Knowledge of basic electronic principles, including circuit theory, Ohm's Law, and component functionality (resistors, capacitors, inductors, etc.)
  • Familiarity with RF systems such as wireless communications, radar, or satellite systems
  • Experience with soldering, PCB assembly, and troubleshooting electronic circuits.
  • Familiarity with software tools for data analysis (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW) and schematic capture (e.g., Altium, OrCad) is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., IPC soldering, RF-specific training) are a plus

Skills, Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience .
  • Secret Clearance
  • Experience with RF simulation tools (e.g., ADS, CST, HFSS).
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as MIL-STD, IEEE, or FCC regulations.
  • Knowledge of digital communication protocols (e.g., LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
  • Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Strong oral and written communications skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and handle equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfort working in lab environments, including standing for extended periods and handling delicate electronic components.

Pay Scale

At GALT Aerospace, base pay is one part of the total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as one grows and develops within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $70,000-$95,000. A specific candidate's base pay will depend on their skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
