Job Description

Summary:

The Resource Planning Leader plays a strategic and operational role in optimizing the deployment, utilization, and long-term success of the consulting workforce. This role bridges tactical workforce planning with strategic talent oversight, driving effective staffing decisions, utilization targets, and resource continuity to ensure the right consultants are staffed on the right engagement at the right time. With a strong grasp of pipeline visibility and sales forecasting, the Resource Planning Leader proactively anticipates future demand, identifies emerging resource needs, and aligns consultant capabilities with upcoming opportunities, enabling agile, data-informed staffing that supports both client success and organizational growth. As a key connector between Client Services, Delivery Services, Recruiting, Business Operations, and Partner Services, the Resource Planning Leader ensures that staffing decisions are informed by both data and human insight, contributing to margin optimization and long-term scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Anticipate future demand by analyzing pipeline forecasts and sales data to proactively identify upcoming resource needs, ensuring timely alignment of consultant skills with projected client engagements
  • Maintain real-time visibility (via reporting and dashboards) into consultant availability, engagement end-dates, and upcoming capacity across all delivery segments
  • Analyze supply and demand trends to inform proactive staffing strategies and support business growth initiatives
  • Forecast and track billable utilization, identifying trends and opportunities to optimize workforce deployment and margin performance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Recruiting and Partner Services to address resource gaps and anticipate future demand
  • Partner with Client Services and Delivery Services leadership to ensure optimal consultant allocations that balance client needs, employee development, and financial performance
  • Champion talent development by identifying growth opportunities, supporting internal mobility, and aligning staffing decisions with long-term consultant success
  • Support margin optimization by reporting at the consultant, project, and agency levels
  • Align staffing decisions with revenue goals, cost targets, and delivery capacity
  • Anticipate bench time and redeployment opportunities to minimize idle capacity and maintain continuity across consultant engagements

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in resource management, workforce planning, or talent management operations, preferably in a consulting or professional services environment
  • Understanding of IT Delivery models and recruiting processes
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action
  • Experience with consultant utilization tracking and capacity modeling
  • Proven ability to align resource planning with operational targets
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical/reporting skills, including executive level dashboards
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities

Other Beneficial Skills

  • Prior experience in consulting staffing or professional services automation (PSA) and tools
  • Knowledge of IT Delivery Models
