UBuildIt Custom Homes and Renovations, the leader in owner-assisted building in the residential construction market, is seeking a Residential Construction Manager to join our team at our new location in Madison! After 20 years of Successful and Award Winning building in the Milwaukee Market, we are expanding to the Madison Market. You will be responsible for the construction process from start until occupancy.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of construction project through-out construction.
- Supervise onsite personnel and subcontractors.
- Interface with sub-contractors, suppliers, architects, municipal officials, and most importantly, Clients.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to plans and specifications.
- Scheduled and Consistent Communication with clients from sign off meeting to occupancy.
- Weekly updates with clients, and more often when needed.
- Reply to client requests in a timely manner.
- Monitor and control multiple projects (typically 7-10) at various stages of construction. Schedule & supervise contractors throughout construction. Visit work sites regularly (typically 3 times per week minimum) and address challenges that arise and ensure projects are being completed with a high level of safety, quality & per plan/specs.
- Create, review and update job progress & schedules weekly in scheduling software.
- Participate in sign-off meeting with clients and staff to review bids, get bids signed off, and set expectations with clients.
- Work with office staff to review bids after sign-off meeting to secure contractors where needed.
- Review construction details to make sure they are correct, including foundation plans, framing design, beams, headers, and trusses.
- Correct issues as needed on projects to insure consistent progress.
- Work with trade partners to insure win-win-win experiences for trade partners, clients, and UBuildIt.
- Provide input on how to improve our systems and client experience.
- Attend other events outside the normal work day when needed, including Parade of Homes events and other industry and educational events.
- Ensure proper maintenance on trucks and other company supplied equipment.
- Typical work day is typically 7AM -4PM, or as needed with trade partners, clients, and UBuildIt.
Qualifications:
- PASSION for providing clients the absolute highest level of customer service.
- Knowledge of custom home building & remodeling work is required.
- Previous carpentry experience a plus.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves to work as part of a team & help people create amazing homes.
- Proven track record managing multiple complicated projects while staying on schedule & adhering to approved budgets.
- Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and decipher vendor proposals & project take-offs.
- Strong computer skills with Word and Excel are required.
- Experience with Project Management Software a plus, ability to learn software required.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to adhere to strict project deadlines.
- Great listener with excellent verbal & written communication skills to clearly communicate to clients & team members, as well as effective interpersonal skills to identify potential conflicts and work with team members to resolve any challenges that may arise.
- Self-starter that thrives in an environment without micromanagement and with minimal oversight.
- Personable, outgoing, team-oriented with a positive attitude, and a can-do mindset.
- Professional appearance and customer interaction.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
