Summary:

Pacific Seafood is seeking a R&D Engineering with a focus in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Mechatronics/Robotics to lead a cutting-edge project in seafood processing. The will develop a self-learning system to identify and evaluate quality parameters in pink shrimp processing, aiming to enhance efficiency and objectivity in product assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research existing technologies for analyzing seafood quality metrics (e.g., , count, broken pieces).
  • Evaluate machine learning and AI approaches for automated quality assessment.
  • Explore and assess in-line and vision-based analysis systems.
  • Develop and prototype a self-learning system for shrimp quality evaluation.
  • Engage with vendors to understand available solutions and integration options.
  • Design and implement software for image processing and data analysis.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis of proposed technologies and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand processing workflows.
  • Document findings, methodologies, and recommendations.
  • Present project outcomes to stakeholders and contribute to strategic decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring to Pacific Seafood:

Required:

  • Actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, with a graduation date no later than June of 2026, in:
    • Computer Science
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Machine Learning
    • Mechatronics/Robotics
    • Or a closely related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C++, or similar).
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Knowledge of computer vision techniques and tools (e.g., OpenCV).
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a project from concept to execution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
