PositionQualifications:

Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly motivated, and meet the requirements below

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong emphasis on data center and mission-critical facilities involving low- and medium-voltage power distribution
  • Experience serving as a specifying engineer, owners representative, or design-build lead for large-scale electrical infrastructure projects
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Previous Data Center experience highly
  • Experience in design-build or fast-track environments
  • Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and ASHRAE 90.4 standards
  • Proven experience with redundancy planning (N+1, 2N), load flow, and protective device coordination
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (multi-state licensure a plus)
  • Remote work accepted; occasional travel may be required depending on project needs

Day-to-daytasksinclude,butnotlimitedtothefollowing:

EssentialFunctions:

  • Perform arc flash, short circuit, and coordination studies using SKM Power*Tools to ensure electrical system safety and compliance.
  • Design and specify switchgear, panelboards, transformers, and other distribution equipment to meet project requirements.
  • Design data and structured cabling systems, ensuring compliance with TIA/EIA and BICSI standards for telecommunications and networking infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with engineers, field staff, and contractors to develop installation details aligned with project needs.
  • Contribute to cost estimates, system calculations, and technical specifications for project designs.
  • Work collaboratively with junior engineers, designers, and CAD/BIM teams to ensure quality and consistency across projects.
  • Provide technical support to proposal teams, assisting with design input and project feasibility assessments.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving electrical design drawings to ensure they meet specifications, client requirements, and regulatory codes.
  • Create fire alarm system designs, including device layouts, riser diagrams, in compliance with NFPA 72.
  • Develop lighting designs using industry standards and lighting design software (e.g., Agi32, Visual, or Dialux) to ensure compliance with IES recommendations.
  • Apply the Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant codes to design and evaluate electrical systems, including load calculations, conductor sizing, grounding, overcurrent protection device (OCPD) sizing, conduit fill, and equipment clearances.
