Job Description
Reliability Engineer
Food Manufacturing
4 on 4 off days only shift pattern
Role Overview - Reliability Engineer:
A food manufacturing business is looking to add a Reliability Engineer to its maintenance team at a busy, high-output site. This Reliability Engineer role focuses on improving equipment reliability, reducing repeat failures, and helping the operation move away from reactive maintenance. The Reliability Engineer will work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to deliver long-term fixes, improve asset performance, and stop recurring issues in their tracks. This is ideal for a Reliability Engineer who prefers preventing breakdowns over constantly firefighting them.
Responsibilities for the Reliability Engineer:
- Analyse breakdown data and identify trends, root causes, and long-term fixes
- Lead and support RCA (Root Cause Analysis) on repeat or major failures
- Develop and improve PPM strategies based on equipment performance and failure history
- Drive reliability improvement projects to reduce downtime and maintenance costs
- Support condition-based monitoring activities (vibration, thermography, etc.)
- Help embed a reliability-focused mindset across the engineering team
Requirements for the Reliability Engineer:
- Experience as a Reliability Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or in an Asset Care role within manufacturing (food or FMCG ideal)
- Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems in a production environment
- Proven experience carrying out RCA and implementing long-term corrective actions
- Familiar with CMMS systems and using data to drive maintenance decisions
