Position Summary:
Beacon Wellness Brands is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Regulatory and Compliance Specialist (Part-Time Contractor) to support our portfolio of personal care consumer products, including topical skincare, cosmetics, personal care appliances, and beauty tools. This role ensures that all products comply with global regulatory requirements and internal standards, while supporting innovation, product development, labeling, and marketing claims with sound regulatory guidance.
Youll work cross-functionally with R&D, Marketing, Product Development, and Quality teams to manage regulatory processes and maintain product compliance across domestic and international markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medical Device Management
- Serve as the main point of contact with outside consultancy on a 6-8 month project surrounding BWBs Medical Device projects.
- Coordinate necessary testing with Hong Kong / China office for reports needed for 510(k) submissions
- Develop a plan for Adverse Event reporting and maintenance.
- Register UDI (unique device identifier) with GS1 as needed
- Communication of required updates to packaging, claims, PDP content, etc, to larger team.
- Serve as lead during FDA audits
- Retailer Product Testing
- Submit products to approved 3rd party laboratories (UL, TUV, SGS) for retailers required production testing programs.
- Collect samples, complete submission paperwork, and follow up as needed on submissions.
- Assure BWBs retailer portfolios are always up to date with annual test reports
- Facility Registrations
- Submit BWB manufacturing facilities to Retailers Facility Registration portals as needed.
- Request social compliance audits from suppliers as needed and keep portals up to date
- MOCRA Registrations (Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act)
- Handle the submission and registration of all cosmetic items in FDAs database as required by the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act
- Coordinate with suppliers as needed to maintain consistency across submissions.
- WERCS Registrations (chemical materials registration)
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including product SDS sheets and other technical data needed for WERCs submissions.
- Coordinate WERCs submissions needed with sales on item by item and retailer by retailer basis. Submit and follow up accordingly.
- International Compliance
- Liaise with BWBs various distributors, consultants, and international stakeholders to assure products are compliant in various international markets (Canada, UK, EU).
- Create action plans and project manage execution of compliance updates to existing products.
- Regulatory Documentation Management
- Maintain BWBs database of regulatory and compliance documentation, including but not limited to (CE, UKCA, ROHS, REACH, PAH, TDS sheets, SDS sheets.
- Claims Substantiation Management
- Maintain supporting documentation for claims surrounding BWBs formulated and device products.
- Work closely with marketing and sales to keep up to date records of allowed / not allowed claims.
- Coordinate clinical testing for new formulated products with 3rd party laboratories as needed for new projects.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 35+ years of regulatory and compliance experience in personal care, cosmetics, skincare, or consumer products industry.
- Familiarity with regulations governing, cosmetics, skincare, and electronic beauty tools/appliances.
- Experience supporting global markets (EU, UK, Canada, , etc.) .
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of cosmetic and consumer product labeling and regulatory frameworks.
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation, project management, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable business guidance.
Experience:
- Experience with electrical safety and certification bodies (e.g., UL, CE, FCC) for personal care appliances.
- Experience with natural/organic product standards, clean beauty, and sustainability claims.
Please note, this is a part-time (20 hours a week) contractor position. Pay is up to $100/hr.
