Regional Sales Manager - Mid West, US (Outside Sales - Manufacturing)

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Primarily manage the business and commercial relationships between the company and all distributers, representatives (sales channel organizations), any direct customer accounts, engineering procurement contractors and original equipment manufacturers and, when applicable, direct sales personnel in the assigned region of responsibility to meet or exceed the annual bookings and sales goals for that region. Secondary responsibilities include managing technical requirements of sales channel organization, consultants, contractors, original equipment manufacturers and end-users consistent with the company’s resources to meet those requirements.

PRIMARY DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Meet or exceed assigned sales quotas.
  • Direct & supervise all sales activities for all company products in the assigned territory.
  • Maintain accuracy of the opportunity pipeline through company provided software and processes.
  • Establish regional sales goals for sales personnel and sales channel organizations and monitor performance.
  • Evaluate and recommend appointment or cancellation of sales channel organizations.
  • Identify new market segments and opportunities that align with the current product portfolio and company core-competence.
  • Maintain a high degree of product, centrifugal pump design, technical fluid process, Industry standards such as API, ANSI, HI and ISO and competitive knowledge.
  • Complete those strategic objectives and goals that may be assigned in support of the company’s business plan.
  • Conduct, assist and otherwise manage sales and technical training programs for sales channel organizations in cooperation with product management.
  • Conduct, assist and otherwise manage customer product training seminars.
  • Assist sales channel organizations in preparation of proposals, presentation to customers and in interpretation of policy and pricing.
  • Act as liaison between direct personnel, sales channel organizations and company factories on matters of expediting, service problems and technical matters
  • Supervise sales personnel in the territory if applicable, direct personnel, handle house accounts including key end-user, OEM, government and/or nuclear accounts so designated.
  • Submit required reports on a timely basis.
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time at the direction of supervisor.
  • Visual skills mandatory
  • Ability to travel unaccompanied, on all commercial means of transportation to visit customers, representatives, and distributor facilities.
  • Maintain direct relationship with Customer’s Engineering technology groups and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to assure company’s products compliance to Customer’s Engineering standards.
  • Develop reports for market considered and/or required technical and design advancements specific to the product.
  • Act as liaison between Product Engineering and Industry committees such as ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineer) and API) American Petroleum Institute)

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • B.S or B.A Degree in Technical or Business discipline
  • At least two (2) years’ experience interacting with representatives and/or distributors and five (5) years of direct customer contact and selling in a technical product application environment.
  • M.B.A degree is considered desirable, but not a necessary requisite.
  • Strong work experience record in business
  • Managing personnel is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Yellow, Green or Black Belt accreditation is highly valued.
  • Superior computer operation skills are required, including advanced skills with application software based in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook
  • Mobile computing and communication are a requisite.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions. Work requires frequent and prolonged computer use.

Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
